What Are the National 2 Meter and 70 Centimeter Simplex Calling Frequencies?

U.S. national analog FM simplex calling references for Technician and higher classes. Use the same transmit and receive frequency; check local guidance and listen first.

U.S. National FM Simplex Calling
BandFrequencyMode / Operation
2 m · VHF146.520 MHzFM · Simplex
70 cm · UHF446.000 MHzFM · Simplex

Calling frequencies are a place to establish contact; consider moving a longer conversation to an appropriate clear simplex channel.

A band plan describes recommended uses. Your license privileges and FCC rules determine what you may transmit. A broad “all modes” label is not permission to use every mode anywhere in a band.

Use your assigned callsign. On nets, follow net control’s check-in instructions. Listen before transmitting and use only frequencies and modes your license permits.
